Brodie Evans

Brodie Evans is currently the in-house studio assistant at Sabre Sound Studio. After obtaining a Bachelor's Degree of Audio Engineering and Sound Production, Brodie figured out that recording music was his passion, and the studio is where he wants to be. Since obtaining the degree, he has gained much experience working as an assistant engineer in studios all over Melbourne. He has assisted on many kinds of sessions with all sorts of artists and understands what is uniquely needed for a session to run smoothly. He loves the challenge of creating new sounds and making all kinds of setups work. As well as a passion for engineering, Brodie plays music himself and has experience being on the other side of the glass.

Steve Younane

Owner & Co Founder

After a long career in Retail, Steve decided to change paths completely and chase his dream of opening asound recording studio. Growing up in Sydney, at an early age, Steve played in bands as a guitarist and alsoventured into the DJ scene. His vision for Sabre Sound Studio is to create a unique and distinct experience forartists, engineers and producers at every stage of their journey and hopes that the Studio will encouragemusicians to collaborate, workshop and record music TOGETHER. Meeting the legendary Ern Rose wasserendipitous and now as his partner and mentor, Steve has been able to realise his dream.

Principal Engineer

David Kerven brings over 30 years of experience as a mixer, recording engineer, and broadcast audio director.His career spans an extraordinary range of artists — from award-winning performers and established acts toindependent bands, singer-songwriters, and emerging talent.David’s passion lies in transforming musical ideas into fully realized recordings. He blends deep technicalexpertise with creative intuition, drawing on decades of experience in world-class studios and live broadcastenvironments.At Sabre Sound Studio, David works from a purpose-built tracking, mixing, and production space equippedwith a combination of vintage analog gear and modern digital technology, ensuring every project benefits fromthe best of both worlds.Known for his calm professionalism and collaborative approach, David believes that no project is too big or toosmall. Each artist’s vision is unique — and his goal is always the same: to bring that vision vividly to life.“Every song has a story. My job is to help you tell it — with clarity, depth, and emotion.”

Troy McCosker

House Engineer

Over the last 20 years Troy McCosker has been pushing faders in studios and venues all over the world.Whilst focused primarily on the heavier side of music, Troy has worked with many artists and genres to explore the possibilities and bring forth their work in unique ways.Whether it’s a 300 track mix session, 300 bpm performance or a 3 piece band playing 3 chords. You can rest assured it’s going to be a smooth process and memorable experience. Troy is a dog lover, drummer and proud owner of many snare drums.“The space at Sabre Sound Studios offers a huge new palette of sounds that I’m very excited to create and capture.”

Maude Minni Morris

House Engineer

Maude is a music producer and audio engineer specialising in professional sound from concept to final release. With over 10 years of experience writing, recording, producing and mixing, across many genres, she works with artists to shape recordings into industry-ready productions. Whether producing a song from the ground up, recording and editing vocals, refining performances, mixing for release, or preparing spoken audio for distribution, her focus is always on clarity, emotion, and authenticity. She is known for being a calm presence in the studio and delivers precise, creative, and reliable audio and music productions tailored to each project, helping artist bring their ideas to life with confidence and attention to detail. Alongside her studio work, she is also active as a musician, performing with ARPA award-winning band Lips.

Gareth Parton

House Engineer

Gareth Parton is a Melbourne-based music producer and recording engineer with over two decades of experience in UK and Australian music recording studios. He built a reputation for inventive, energetic productions that combine classic analogue warmth and distortion with modern digital production.His credits include work with Foals, The Breeders, The Go! Team, Asian Dub Foundation and The Beta Band, among many others, earning him over 250 production credits and a Mercury Prize nomination. (He's also recorded fellow Welshman, the legendary Tom Jones!!)Known for his “mid-fi” aesthetic and creative approach to recording, Gareth works with artists across genres -specialising in indie and alternative rock to experimental pop.Favourite music: Indie-pop, Krautrock, Folk, Alt-Country, Experimental and Alternative Rock.

Susie Ahern

Vocal Coach

Susie Ahern is one of Australia’s best Vocal Coaches. She has worked with some of Australia’s best singers including Guy Sebastian and Tina Arena. She is highly regarded as a session vocalist and has toured with artists such as Kylie Minogue, John Farnham, Anthony Callea, Tim Campbell and Russell Crowe. Susie can be heard on albums with Renee Geyer, David Hobson and the Badloves. She has also released two solo albums through ABC ‘s First Edition label.  Susie has coached singers on many TV shows including Australian Idol, AGT, It Takes Two, The X Factor, The Voice and Starstruck. She has worked as varied voices on many Australian Comedy Shows including “The Castle”,” Boytown”, “Full Frontal”, “ Fast Forward”, “Talking Your Generation”, and “The Footy Show”. Susie has worked as a backing and lead vocalist on many TV shows including, Dancing With The Stars, Good Morning Australia, Hey Hey It’s Saturday and Tonight Live.  Susie now devotes a great deal of time to mentoring emerging singers and songwriters.

Charlize is a passionate practicing musician herself, and loves to help out wherever she can.
